Spain
Business-to-Business (B2B) e-invoicing delay
The unsettled political environment in Spain has had a direct correlation with B2B e-invoicing developments in the country, as Kofax’s recent update demonstrated.
The current political trajectory remains uncertain in Spain, and much will depend on whether the Spanish government can form a coalition government by the end of this year. If this is achieved, then the inception of e-invoicing in the spring of 2025 is a realistic possibility in Spain.
However, failure to formulate a coalition government in Spain this year could push e-invoicing as far back as October 2025, owing to the need to potentially call new elections to resolve the political deadlock.
These political ramifications indicate how political fraction can hinder a country’s e-invoicing development. Spain is an important market for Kofax, and we are following developments there with a view to determine a firm date for the mandate’s inception, as well as more defined details concerning how the e-invoicing model will operate practically.
