Brazil is the latest Latin American country to tighten its grip over its country’s e-invoicing scope. Via Resolution 169/2022 of the Simples Nacional Management Committee (CGSN) of 1 September 2023, Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEI) will only be able to issue invoices through the National Electronic Services Invoice (NFS-e) issuance system. The measure means alternative invoice issuance systems no longer need to be utilised and can be issued without the need for a local permit from the City Hall on a free of charge basis.

The initiative is currently limited to MEIs.
