Transitioning to the Euro and SAF-T Mandate

Bulgaria is continuing its commitment to join Eurozone with the planned transition to the Euro for 1 January 2026. In early June the European Commission approved Bulgaria’s plans to adopt the Euro after they initially postponed in 2024 due to critical inflation in the country.

The final approvals are expected in July, and the country is preparing to display dual currency for POS (point of sale) starting in August 2025.

Bulgaria's approval of the 2025 State Budget Act provides the anticipated implementation of the SAF-T mandate. The phased implementation of the detailed line-by-line invoice reporting requirement will go into effect with large enterprises starting in 2026.
